Balcones Mirador Texas Single Malt Whisky is a second fill barrel-aged malt profile made up of whiskies ranging from two to almost five years old. All the agings took place in used casks, so the oak is less prominent. It's also not as deeply colored as most Balcones. The nose gives more of the malt instead of the wood easily overdone in Bourbon whiskies.
NOSE: Red berries and vanilla straight off. White pepper and tropical fruits.
TASTE: Full-bodied. Black and white pepper, ginger, earthy cinnamon, and vanilla.
FINISH: Medium long finish. Much the same really. It’s good, but not a whole lot of development.
